The new instruction update the list of authorized officers and entry points for food imports. These are based on recent notifications from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). The FSSAI has reviewed its policy and added six new entry points for food imports. These new points include LCS Darrangain in Assam, SEZ- MEPZ in Chennai, ICD Raipur in Chhattisgarh, two SEZs in Bharuch, Gujarat (Jubilant and HBS Panoli), and Bhubaneswar Air Cargo in Orissa. The authorized officers at these locations will include FSSAI officials as well as customs personnel e.g. Superintendents, Appraisers, Inspectors, and Examiners.
